All About General Merchandise Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in-stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team conducts inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest first culture across the store
Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals
As a General Merchandise Expert, a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete your daily tasks.
Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.
Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.
Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities, including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
Execute processes including changing prices to products, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader for all areas.
Learn how operational procedures, such as setting up and organizing merchandise, managing product stock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas, affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
Be knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.
Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes (such as picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties, including federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
All other duties based on business needs.

Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
Climb up and down ladders.
Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.
Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) reliable and prompt attendance necessary.
Capable of working in and engaging with varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties, including but not limited to drive‑up, carryout, etc.
Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
