About General Merchandise Experts of store process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is set, in‑stock, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all GM areas of the store. They conduct inventory accuracy, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and pricing processes for all areas of the store. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by supporting pick, pack and ship fulfillment work.

Skills & Experience

Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest‑first culture across the store

Experience in retail business fundamentals including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement

Experience executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

Typical Responsibilities

Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests while completing your daily tasks.

Engage with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs.

Thank guests and let them know we’re happy they chose to shop at Target.

Execute daily tasks assigned by your leader to achieve business priorities: receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom, arranging merchandise, and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.

If certified, operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.

Execute processes including changing prices to products, merchandise set‑up and maintenance, and inventory accuracy as directed for all areas.

Learn how operational procedures—such as setting up and organizing merchandise—impact inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.

Be knowledgeable about the resources, products, and services available in the entire store, and specifically in your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.

Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.

Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.

Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) while maintaining compliance culture, including federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.

All other duties based on business needs.

You are open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days, or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times).

Essential Skills

Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.

Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.

Work both independently and with a team.

Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.

Attention to detail and follow a multi‑step process.

Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Physical Requirements & Basic Expectations

Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.

Climb up and down ladders.

Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance.

Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) reliable and prompt attendance necessary.

Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties, including but not limited to Drive‑Up, carry‑out, etc.

Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
