Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and dependable

Lead Educational Technician III

to support students in a special education setting with emotional and/or behavioral needs. This role provides direct student support while also serving as a point of consistency within the classroom by modeling effective practices, supporting documentation, and assisting with the coordination of behavioral interventions under the direction of the classroom teacher and program leadership.

Key Responsibilities Student Support & Instruction

Provide 1:1 and small group instructional and behavioral support to students in the special education program.

Implement individualized interventions as outlined in students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Plans.

Reinforce academic material previously introduced by the classroom teacher under direct supervision.

Support students at their developmental level with functional and academic skill acquisition.

Assist with classroom behavioral management to ensure a safe, structured, and orderly learning environment.

Behavioral Support

Implement behavior support strategies aligned with student Behavior Plans.

Utilize basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including proactive strategies, reinforcement, and appropriate responses to behavior.

Support students in managing behavioral challenges within the special education setting.

Leadership & Program Support

Serve as a lead support staff member by modeling consistent implementation of classroom routines and behavior strategies.

Support classroom staff with maintaining consistency in behavioral interventions.

Assist with reviewing incident documentation to ensure clarity and completeness.

Participate in and help facilitate incident debriefs with classroom staff as directed.

Collaboration

Work collaboratively and professionally with teachers, related service providers, and support staff.

Implement interventions as directed by the classroom teacher and related service providers.

Perform other duties as assigned by program leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.

Must hold or be eligible to obtain Educational Technician III certification from the Maine Department of Education within a short timeframe upon hire.

Must pass all required background checks and clearances through the Department of Education, DHHS, and OCFS.

Experience working with children or students preferred.

Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and participate in training related to special education and behavioral support.

Strong communication, reliability, and teamwork skills.
