This position provides administrative support to the Quality and Innovation Team.

An hourly salary range of $16.87 to $19.61 is anticipated for this position.

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned, but are those that are considered essential for an employee to perform.

Responsibilities

Completes biochemical and anthropometric measurements of WIC applicants and participants by a) weighing and measuring applicants/participants for the WIC Program using procedures outlined in the NC WIC Program Manual; b) performing hemoglobin tests for applicants/participants as required by WIC policy; and c) recording measures in the Crossroads computer system following federal and state requirements.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned by: a) serving as WIC receptionist as needed; b) recording daily the number and type of services provided to WIC applicants/participants; c) completing a detailed daily time study to document time spent in each WIC program budget area; d) maintaining WIC laboratory equipment; e) maintaining WIC laboratory supply inventory and notifying Nutrition Program Coordinator when additional supplies need to be ordered; f) as needed, assisting in preparedness and emergency response activities in situations that threaten the public's health (i.e. disease outbreaks, natural disasters, etc.); and g) carrying out Performance management (PM) roles and responsibilities, including identifying and communicating performance improvement opportunities and adjusting performance and practice to achieve established PM goals.

Conducts program outreach activities to offer program services by a) contacting potentially eligible persons to offer appointments for application; and b) sending letters to applicants/participants who miss appointments.

Participate in staff development activities to remain up to date on new guidelines, policies, procedures, and activities by a) attending workshops/trainings related to the provision of program services; b) attending departmental, MCH division, and WIC staff meetings; and c) completing required annual WIC, departmental, and county trainings.

Implement strategies aimed at achieving Health Equity, including but not limited to attending trainings to better understand inequities, identifying and addressing barriers to health, serving on the Health Equity Team or its subcommittees, and engaging in internal or external efforts to eliminate health disparities.

Preferred

Experience as a Medical Office Assistant preferred

Experience obtaining height, weight, and performing finger sticks on pediatric and adult patients preferred

Bilingual preferred

Requirements

High school diploma or GED

One year of experience in a related field

The applicant selected must undergo a criminal background check and pass a drug screening test prior to employment

In compliance with G.S.153A-94.2 (b) if the position being filled requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, the County must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI. These checks must be performed in accordance with G.S.143B-1209.26, which authorizes the SBI to provide fingerprint-based state and national criminal record checks to cities and counties.
