Job Responsibilities
Utilize the Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS) to process issued parts, mechanic labor, service tickets, and manage work orders and inventory maintenance.
Process monthly reporting and perform procurement for shop operations according to procurement policies and procedures.
Handle purchases for the mechanic shop as needed and utilize South Carolina Enterprise Information System (SCEIS) to prepare purchase orders and receipts.
Maintain contact with vendors to obtain needed stock, keep updated on new supplies, materials, and equipment, and resolve discrepancies in orders.
Manage repair shop detailed parts inventory (.950 and .990), order parts, and maintain inventory control of the SCDOT stockroom for Berkeley Mechanic Shop.
Act as shop credit card holder, collect and maintain invoices, and reconcile billing statements according to policy.
Monitor and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and maintain compliance for QMT reviews.
Inspect and supervise cleaning of storeroom area in accordance with OSHA safety and fire regulations and assist in routine maintenance.
Answer phone calls, direct calls to appropriate personnel, greet visitors, operate two‑way radio, and assist in emergency and inclement weather operations.
Available for extended working hours, 12‑hour shifts, weekends, and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
High school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical demands include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods, working on a computer, and working in an office, warehouse, and outdoor environments in all weather conditions. Must lift up to 30 lbs.
Motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
