Job Purpose & Summary Leads and manages the center store department (dry grocery, general merchandise, alcohol, dairy, and frozen food) operations and associates to execute company best practices, maximizing sales and profitability. Oversees inventory control, receiving product, planogram integrity and pricing to ensure efficiency, accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable laws. Creates a shopping and working environment that exemplifies the company’s commitment to service, quality and neighborhood partnerships.

Key Performance Indicators

Overall Customer Satisfaction (OSAT) – Grocery : Gauges the customer experience focusing on assortment, cleanliness, freshness, staff friendliness and stock availability.

On‑Shelf Availability : Ensures all processes are followed to allow customers to purchase their needs.

Date Check Pro % : Ensures the freshest product for customers by following all processes to increase sales, decrease shrink and improve profits.

Essential Responsibilities Store Leadership – 30% Leads and empowers teams to deliver a great shopping experience in alignment with the company’s vision, goals, expectations and policies while maintaining open communication. Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with customers, associates, schools, vendors, suppliers and regulatory agencies.

Fiscal Leadership – 30% Manages in‑stock conditions, inventory, shrink, pricing, receiving and expenses including labor and supply management. Maximizes sales and profits by ensuring effective display and sales techniques, efficient ordering, scheduling and work planning. Provides guidance in product and supply ordering, equipment set‑up, department organization and vendor assistance.

Department Leadership – 15% Delegates authority and accountability to managers and creates a coordinated, motivated management team. Trains and coaches department managers on KPIs, product stocking, customer service, product knowledge, suggestive selling, safety and sanitation. Communicates department progress, financial results, recommendations and training enhancements.

Associate Leadership – 15% Supports hiring and training execution. Ensures recruiting, interviewing and hiring follow company guidelines. Provides onboarding and new‑hire training. Coaches, holds associates accountable and separates when necessary.

Safety and Compliance – 10% Adheres to regulatory compliance for food safety, USDA & COOL, and Department of Agriculture. Executes all product recalls and withdrawals timely. Cultivates a safety culture, ensures training, maintains equipment and handles hazard remediation.

Qualifications

Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.

Languages : English required. English and Spanish preferred.

Experience : 3–6 years supervisory experience (or 1–5 years for certain aspects). At least 3 years of experience in retail/Grocery management preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

Authorization to work in the United States.

Successful completion of pre‑employment drug testing and background check.

Proficient with computer applications relevant to department operations.

Strong customer service, interpersonal, motivational and communication skills.

Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.

Integrity and reliability.

Environmental Factors Retail location management—physical demands include standing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching, lifting up to 70 lb, occasional climbing. Working conditions may involve indoor, outdoor, cold and wet environments. Safety risks include hazardous equipment, sharp objects and chemical exposures.

Travel & Overnights Occasional travel. No overnight stay required.

Shift and Schedule Varied shifts, including morning, afternoon, evening and closing shifts. Must work at least one closing shift each week.
