Location: Waterbury, CT
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 A – 4:30 P. Will work any 8‑hour shift between 5 A and 5 P. Must be available for any 8‑hour shift during that window.
Full time, 40 hours/week. Every other Saturday 7:00 A – 11:00 A (Differentials apply).
Position Purpose The Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre‑registration, registration, and admission functions in Central Registration at Saint Mary's Hospital.
What You Will Do
Perform complete and accurate pre‑registrations, registration, and admission functions.
Verify insurance requirements, obtain and understand insurance benefits.
Secure signatures and all other key information needed to complete billing and collection functions.
Collect or arrange for co‑insurance and/or other deposit payment amounts.
Refer self‑pay patients to financial counselors and answer patient questions.
Complete enrollment and eligibility portion of all hospital and physician billing setups.
Ensure patient compliance with all central registration and admission documentation.
Collaborate with other departments, including Payment & Compliance, to maintain accurate records.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; college education preferred.
Medical terminology skills.
Experience in medical office, hospital/physician billing, or patient registration preferred.
Bi‑lingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Must be attentive to detail and capable of handling confidential information securely.
Position Highlights And Benefits
Full time 40 hrs/week on days – must be available for any 8‑hour shift between 5 A and 5 P.
Every other Saturday 7 A‑11 A – Differentials apply.
Orientation/training: day shift 8 A‑4:30 P, Mon‑Fri for 2‑3 weeks. May require time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center depending on proximity.
3rd week required for new hires with less than 1 year experience in patient registration.
