Patient Access Representative
Location: Byron Center, MI (Variable)
Employment type: Part time, 20 hours per week, Variable shift.
Training: The first two weeks of training are Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; must be able to attend. Purpose : Provides patient‑focused customer service, performs outpatient/inpatient registration and insurance verification, collects patient financial liability payments, ensures patients meet financial requirements including Medicare necessity, pre‑certifications and referrals. Provides general information to hospital users, patients, families and physician offices.
Essential Functions Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates Trinity Health Mission, Values, Vision, Actions and Promise in behaviors, practices and decisions. Researches, collects and analyzes information; identifies opportunities, develops solutions and leads through resolution. Collaborates on performance improvement activities; responsible for distribution of analytical reports. Utilizes multiple system applications to perform analysis, create reports and develop educational materials. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable laws, policies and compliance programs.
Minimum Qualifications
1 year customer service experience (required)
High School diploma or equivalent
HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification required within one (1) year of hire
Additional Qualifications Medical terminology, diagnostic & procedural coding knowledge; insurance verification with ability to explain benefits and secure necessary authorizations.
