Discover your exciting role The Lead Mechanical Engineer, with specialized expertise in Data Center projects, works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers to deliver detailed construction documents for critical systems, including HVAC (wet and dry), plumbing, controls, and related infrastructure.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

Executes engineering design tasks for utilities and HVAC (wet and dry) systems supporting mission-critical data center environments, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency for high-density computing operations

Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection

Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects

Supports project on-site execution and make decisions to support projects and act as technical consultant

Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget

Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise

Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by discipline team

Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation

Diagrams, general arrangements and sequences of operation associated with these systems

Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices

Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated

Show your expertise Minimum Required

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required

Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred

8+ years of mechanical design experience with a focus on mission-critical data center environments, including HVAC (wet/dry) systems, utilities, and related infrastructure

Autodesk Building Systems Software

Preferred

Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record

Consulting engineering experience

Experience working within a team environment

Experience in the quality control review process

Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
