Job Summary To support the growth of the company, we are hiring a Mobile Trailer Technician II to join our team. This is a dedicated on‑site position focused on certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light repairs, and other duties such as trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and replacement of panels, body, and framework. Work is performed at the customer’s site. The Mobile Trailer Technician II can perform more advanced repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Trailer Technician or higher.

Duties

Preventive maintenance and repairs on ThermoKing, Carrier, and other refrigeration equipment.

DOT inspections on Freightliner and Mack trucks and trailers.

Diagnose and repair or replace compressors, coils, electrical components, and other components.

Always follow and comply with safe operating practices and procedures.

Manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.

Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.

Apply knowledge from formal training or on‑the‑job experience to perform job duties and evaluate technical information.

Work with clients to assess needs and provide information or assistance, resolving problems and satisfying expectations.

Prioritize concurrent tasks and make effective judgments about work and time allocation.

Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards.

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on trailers and equipment in a mobile/field environment.

Respond to call‑center‑dispatched unscheduled service and maintenance requests.

Use hand tools, precision instruments, trailer tools, welding equipment, and jacks.

Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures and parts information on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application.

Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation promptly.

Work independently and manage own daily schedule.

Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times.

Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed.

Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates, PO numbers, and RO findings.

Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

Participate in company‑required safety training.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and vendors, communicating effectively.

Maintain the company‑issued service truck and conduct safety checks and daily inspections.

Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems including brakes, air lines, pumps, engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, panel replacement, and framework.

Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures and stay current on safety protocols.

Diagnose, adjust, and repair trailer equipment and systems, using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other test instruments.

Assist Mobile Trailer Technician I with diagnostics.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of related experience (or equivalent education and 5 years of experience).

At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.

Possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.

Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.

Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.

Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background check and DOT physical, or submit a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining.

Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver's license.

Safe driver required; maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Preferred Certifications

ASE 608/609 certification *

ASE T4 (Brakes) certification

ASE T5 (Suspension) certification

ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) certification

ASE T7 (HVAC) certification

Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of trailer parts and systems, including design, repair, and maintenance.
