Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician keeps the assigned area of the building in clean and orderly condition and supervises shift porters.

Responsibilities

Maintains buildings, vehicles, and other equipment, performing minor routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.

Provide thorough policies and procedure training to new and existing staff and provide follow-up to ensure policies and procedures are followed.

Performs routine maintenance on boiler and heating plant.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs, and office/program space. Empties trash and garbage containers.

Daily inspection of equipment and building, making notation of needed repairs.

Performs outside maintenance including snow removal, mowing lawns, trimming shrubbery, etc.

Maintains all required certifications.

Responds to emergency maintenance calls per schedule and/or on-call rotation.

All other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Will occasionally be required to work from various heights, including mechanical lift, ladders, and rooftops.

Regularly required to stand, walk, and work with fingers, hands, and arms; occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must be able to consistently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

Will be occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. Noise level is usually moderate. Heat levels will vary depending on the availability of air‑conditioning.

General Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus six to twelve months of related experience and/or training; certificate in advanced area of technical study preferred.

Effective team player with professional/positive personal presence and energy and strong customer service skills.

The candidate should have effective communication skills, both oral and written, including excellent telephone etiquette.

The candidate must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Accurate, efficient, detail oriented.

The candidate must have the ability to balance workload under short deadlines and changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Self‑sufficient and works with little supervision, identifies opportunities, and executes on projects to improve organization and efficiency of the association.
