Process Engineer – MGS Germantown Manufacturing
As a
Process Engineer
at
MGS , you will support the maintenance and improvement of plastic molding processes, focusing on resolving production issues and enhancing operational efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting molding challenges, recommending process adjustments, and implementing solutions under the guidance of senior engineering staff. You will communicate periodically with internal customers and collaborate with scheduling, tool room, quality, and other relevant teams to proactively address concerns and minimize production disruptions.
Responsibilities
Perform tool qualifications.
Aid in the development of plastic processing project instructions to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem, and possible solutions such as part redesign, substitution of materials or parts, or rearrangement of parts or subassemblies.
Devises and recommends new or modified components of plastic injection molding machinery.
Conduct tests such as process window studies and design of experiments of plastic injection molding processes to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors, or obtain data for development, standardization, and quality control.
Analyze indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specification.
Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in process, product, or test method.
Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Completion of an accredited two‑year technical college program or a four‑year university program in a related field of study is preferred.
3+ years of experience in plastics injection molding.
Working knowledge of injection molding processes.
Troubleshooting skills.
Mechanical skills.
