Employees and representatives of BFT are expected to uphold our values and mission.**NATURE OF POSITION**Perform semi-skilled and skilled work to maintain, repair, and replace, if necessary, devices, equipment, and machinery at all transit buildings and facilities.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Maintain preventative and corrective maintenance programs for electrical, mechanical and/or HVAC systems.* Schedule and monitor daily work for staff engaged in cleaning, repairing, and maintaining the condition of buildings, structures, grounds and related equipment.* Diagnose and repair/replace basic components in electrical and plumbing systems, HVAC systems, and appliances or contact appropriate outside sources to resolve problems.* Perform inspections of buildings, bus shelters, equipment, and adjacent grounds to assure equipment and facilities are in safe and in proper working order; advise supervisor of potential problems or risks.* Repair, replace, clean, and maintain bus stop areas and zones and transit stop shelters.* Cut, remove, and spray vegetation at bus stops, shelters, and transit centers.* Reset, repair or replace damaged poles, schedule holders, signs, and brackets; clean and replace broken windows and glass.* Update rider alert signage, schedules at transit centers and bus shelters; remove/add numbers on signs and shelters.* Assemble and install shelters, benches, trash cans, seats, poles, signs, and schedule holders.* Empty trash receptacles, dispose of biohazards and sharps from bus stop areas and zones, shelters, park and ride lots, and transit centers.* Paint transit buildings, fixtures, and property including painting curbs at bus stop loading zones and transit centers.* Perform snow and ice control at all fixed facilities.* Assist in the coordination of building space allocation, layout, and building remodels as needed.* Coordinate and schedule office space moves; remove, transfer, assemble and/or arrange furniture and fixtures.* Operate and maintain all non-revenue company vehicles, tools, and equipment required in the normal performance of duties.* Order or request necessary supplies and equipment to repair and/or maintain transit property, fixtures, and equipment; notify management when repairs are outside of normal purview.* Estimate costs of maintenance and repairs; recommend cost-effective methods in repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment to management.* Ensure that there is an adequate inventory of spare parts and equipment to effectuate predictable repairs as the need may arise.* Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports, including work order requests, site plans, blueprints, and other reports pertaining to assigned work.* Identify safety hazards; perform hazardous waste clean-up following Agency guidelines, federal, state, and local codes and safety regulations.* Transfer tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from work stations.* Liaise with vendor regarding preventative maintenance contracts.* Maintain procedures and manuals for repairs, servicing, and maintenance programs.* Maintain cleanliness in the shop.* Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.* Other duties as assigned.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES*** Identify, interpret, and implement the codes, guidelines, and standards applicable to the maintenance and operational activities applicable to assigned duties.* Methods of sustainable practices in routine maintenance of buildings and operation of their systems.* Landscape maintenance methods to utilize chemicals and equipment to control weeds, insects, and plant diseases.* Apply knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to lead a team to project activities to meet project requirements.* Understand and follow guidelines for safe handling and disposal of toxic and/or caustic chemicals, pesticides, and other hazardous materials, including bloodborne pathogens.* Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and materials used for building and grounds maintenance and repair.* Direct and instruct others on proper work methods and use of tools and equipment.* Coordinate work and activities with others.* Safely use hand tools and basic power tools to perform routine maintenance on buildings and related appurtenances.* Read and interpret work plans, blueprints, schematics, operations, and service manuals.* Basic mathematical calculations and common measures to calculate square footage, proportions, and volume.* Ability to independently use diagnostic equipment in trouble shooting more complex system or equipment failures and to analyze results for corrective actions.* Maintain records.* Perform manual labor on a continuous basis.* Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of business.* Learn new technologies, policies, procedures and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.* Utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs.* Understand, follow, and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.* Work as a team member and independently; Must possess a valid driver’s license.**LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS*** Must obtain and maintain the following licenses and certifications for continued employment at BFT:* First Aid certification; or ability to obtain within 180-days of employment* Forklift Certification, or ability to obtain within 180-days of employment**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**Five-years of experience performing semi-skilled and skilled facilities and/or grounds maintenance activities and leading a team to complete a project.**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**Frequently stand and walk for extended periods; lift and #J-18808-Ljbffr
