Base pay range $86,681.00/yr - $109,560.00/yr
Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time. Under the general direction of the IT Specialist 4 SG‑25, the incumbent will serve as a hands‑on information technologist specializing in business intelligence, data warehousing, and operational reporting to support DMS (data management services) team. Further, the incumbent will communicate with internal staff on various WCB projects supporting data warehouse, business intelligence, and data sharing initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising and supporting data management services staff as well as performing hands‑on business analysis, design, development, technical maintenance, data integration, report writing, and data evaluation.
Duties Will Include, But Not Be Limited To
Support the OnBoard Expansion – CIS/eCase Modernization and OnBoard Access Administration projects.
Demonstrate proficiency with data warehouse, BI analytics, and reporting concepts.
Demonstrate hands‑on experience with the ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools related to the movement of data such as Pentaho Data Integrator or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
The candidate must have knowledge of BI analytics schema and cube development using Pentaho, as well as dimensional (star schema) data modeling.
Show proficiency with relational database management concepts in various database platforms such as Sybase ASE or SQL Server.
Mentor new developers in all phases of the system development life cycle.
Develop data integration solutions using SQL, ETL, and SQL stored procedures.
Perform and participate in code review for peers and SG‑18 technologists as needed.
Produce business intelligence reports (parameterized, one‑shot/ad hoc & periodical), summarized data extracts, and analytical report schemas.
Migrate legacy reports and code to the business intelligence platform.
Respond to incidents and requests from internal and external users.
Perform the full range of supervisory duties as applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
Five+ years of experience developing data integration solutions using SQL, ETL, and SQL stored procedures.
The following degrees may substitute for the general experience as indicated:
Associate’s degree and four years of experience
Associate’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and three years of experience
Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience
Bachelor’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and two years of experience
Master’s degree in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional year of experience
Doctorate in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional year of experience
Preferred Qualifications
More than 3 years with Pentaho Data Integrator or SQL Server Integration Services.
1 to 3 years of experience with BI analytics schema and cube development using Pentaho.
3 to 5 years of experience with relational database management concepts in various database platforms such as Sybase ASE or SQL Server.
Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non‑immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence. Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay. to permanent non‑competitive and the official probationary period will begin.
