Head Men's Soccer Coach/Physical Education Instructor (Full-Time/Tenure Track) Fresno City College Apply for the Head Men's Soccer Coach/Physical Education Instructor (Full-Time/Tenure Track) position at Fresno City College. This is a full‑time, tenure‑track role that may fill more than one position from the pool.

Key Responsibilities

Provide direction for all facets of the college men’s soccer program, including selection and oversight of assistant coaches.

Lead and develop the student‑athlete recruiting process in compliance with 3C2A regulations.

Build strong relationships with the community, high schools, athletic counselors, and college staff.

Ensure program compliance with 3C2A regulations and communicate disciplinary consequences.

Create a positive atmosphere for student‑athletes; support academic progress, retention, and matriculation through mentoring and referral to support services.

Provide instruction, mentoring, and coaching in skills, techniques, and competitive strategies.

Evaluate individual and team performance and refine strategies throughout the season.

Assist in planning and scheduling competitions, tournaments, and events, coordinating with academic schedules and district policy.

Provide referrals to prospective student‑athletes to academic and student services.

Assist student athletes in completing academic requirements for transfer to four‑year institutions.

Develop and implement fundraising activities in accordance with college and district policies.

Teach courses within the Physical Education Program, mentor and advise students, and serve on program and department committees.

Contribute to curriculum development, program review, and assessment of student learning outcomes.

Support the institutional mission and goals through service on committees and program initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in physical education, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field and two years of directly related experience; or

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus a Master’s in a life science, physiology, health education, or related discipline and two years of directly related experience; or

Valid California Community College Credential; or

Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications

Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.

Experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding of systemic exclusion patterns.

Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices.

Experience with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, ethnic backgrounds, and disabilities.

Proficiency in technology for high‑quality instruction and support.

Strong communication skills with students and staff.

Experience in athletic recruiting, fundraising, and committee service.

Minimum three years’ soccer coaching experience, preferably head coaching.

Technical knowledge of all aspects of coaching soccer (offense, defense, passing, goal‑keeping).

Experience teaching at the post‑secondary level.

Knowledge of educational technology, multimedia software, and student learning outcome assessment.

Commitment to ongoing professional growth and willingness to improve teaching methodology.

Knowledge of community college mission and goals.

Conditions of Employment & Salary 178 duty days per year. Annual starting salary ranges from $71,054 to $106,970 based on education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. Coaches may receive a 10% compensation stipend for coaching duties.

Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage for employee and dependents, life insurance, and CalSTRS membership.

Selection Procedure

Qualified applicants advance to advisory committee review based on minimum and desirable qualifications.

Interviews scheduled: FIRST LEVEL INTERVIEWS – weeks of March 10‑13 & March 23‑27; FINAL INTERVIEWS – week of April 6‑10.

Selected candidates invited for final interviews with the Vice President and College President.
