Job Summary The OR Circulator Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining a safe and sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure and providing care to patients before, during, and after surgery. The role of the circulating nurse is multi-faceted and requires critical thinking, excellent communication, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to maintain accurate medical records. The requirements of a circulation nurse are high, and those interested in the position must hold professional certification and have advanced clinical knowledge.

Shift Schedule:

Monday - Friday, Day shift, 8 Hour Shifts

Qualifications

Current California RN license

Must have current CPR BLS for healthcare providers, ACLS upon hire, and PALS completed within 6 months of hire.

Strong clinical skills and critical thinking ability.

Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

Job Duties

Prepare the operating room, ensuring all required equipment and supplies are available and properly arranged.

Verify that all surgical instruments are correctly sterilized and in proper working condition.

Monitor the surgical team and environment to ensure adherence to sterile technique at all times.

Assist in safely positioning the patient prior to surgery, using appropriate supports and safety measures.

Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site in accordance with hospital policies and time-out protocols before the procedure begins.

Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of all aspects of the surgical procedure in the patient’s medical record.

Strictly adhere to infection control standards and patient safety protocols.

Manage the overall flow of the operating room, anticipating the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.

Handle all specimens obtained during surgery, ensuring proper collection, labeling, storage, and documentation.

Provide emotional support, clear communication, and compassionate care to patients and their families throughout the perioperative process.

Salary: $44.74 - $55.93 per hour

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices, etc. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
