When you join the growing BILH team, you’ll be making a real difference in people’s lives. The position is 24 hours per week with a 7‑a.m. to 7‑m.p.m. schedule, rotating weekends and holidays.
Main Function Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, performs a variety of clerical and receptionist duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures to support the efficient operation of the unit, staff, physicians, patients and their families. Duties include but are not limited to maintaining medical records located on the Nursing Unit, answering phones, assisting visitors, delivering specimens, and distributing mail.
Required Experience
Current knowledge of Medical Terminology – completed a Medical Terminology Course within the past 2 years or able to pass a medical terminology competency equivalent to the final exam of such a course.
Ability to perform a variety of clerical duties.
Accurate transcription of information and medication orders into Meditech system; previous Meditech experience preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well in stressful situations.
Graduate of a medical‑assistant or secretary program with 6–12 months experience preferred.
Previous Unit Coordinator experience is preferred.
As with all job assignments, staff may be floated to areas where they are needed.
Pay Range $18.81 – $33.00 per hour. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement; the pay range is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.
Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment.
