Shape the future of innovation as we tackle cutting‑edge projects that make a difference. We’re not just in the business of engineering—we’re building a brighter future. Driven by creativity and a culture of excellence, we believe in the power of engineering to solve today’s challenges and create opportunities for tomorrow. What we do matters.

Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Numac Control Systems Test Technician to bring advanced control systems to life. In this role you’ll assemble, wire, and test instrumentation and control (I&C) equipment that supports our engineering and system development efforts. You’ll build and integrate components such as sensors, transmitters, and control panels; perform bench‑level and functional testing; and assist with prototype evaluations and troubleshooting.

Day‑to‑day work includes soldering, cable and harness fabrication, panel wiring, and using test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to verify system performance. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, maintain detailed documentation, and uphold high standards for lab organization, quality, and safety.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on technical work, takes pride in precision craftsmanship, and is eager to learn more about instrumentation, controls, and system testing in a dynamic lab environment.

Due to the nature of the project all applicants must be US Citizens or US lawful permanent resident.

This role is onsite in Wilmington, NC.

Key Responsibilities

Support system integration by wiring, configuring, and verifying I&C connections and test setups.

Assist with prototype builds, hardware troubleshooting, and calibration activities.

Execute calibration and verification procedures using standard lab equipment.

Document build and test results, including assembly records, data, and nonconformance reports.

Maintain lab organization, tool control, and a safe working environment.

Support functional and environmental testing such as continuity, insulation resistance, and signal verification.

Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and lab protocols.

Collaborate with engineers and technicians to identify and resolve design or test issues.

Contribute to continuous improvement by updating procedures and work instructions.

Prepare instrumentation and test setups for system‑level or field testing as required.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.

Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation principles (voltage, current, analog/digital signals).

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.

Proficiency in hand soldering, cable fabrication, and harness assembly (crimping, labeling, connector installation).

Experience in panel wiring with attention to routing, strain relief, and grounding.

Familiarity with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators).

Basic mechanical assembly skills (drilling, mounting, and hardware installation).

Understanding of ESD precautions and safe handling of sensitive electronics.

Familiar with DAL‑A verification methodologies.

Must be self‑motivated and have initiative to reach out and interact with the existing team.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills at the component and wiring level.

Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to follow detailed work instructions.
