Full-time, Staff position within the UHealth-University of Miami Health System.
Core Job Summary The incumbent provides psychosocial assessments, intervention, and treatment and discharge planning to patients and families to assist them in coping with hospitalization, illness, diagnosis, and life situations. The Social Worker, LCSW, administers a broad variety of therapies and serves as the designated expert within the social work profession.
Core Job Functions
Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and problems related to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and life situation.
Administers a broad variety of therapies and serves as the designated expert, consultant, or source of knowledge within the social work profession.
Formulates, develops, and implements a plan utilizing appropriate social work interventions.
Collaborates with the health care team and involves the patient/family in the development and implementation of plans.
Facilitates discharge planning across a multidisciplinary care continuum, interacting with consulting physicians, third‑party payers, and other health care providers to facilitate movement of the patient through the system and arrangement of an appropriate discharge plan.
Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary staff to design and implement treatment plans and discharge plans for the patient.
Provides education and counseling to patients and families around issues related to adaptation to the patient's illness and life situation.
May utilize crisis intervention, brief and long‑term individual, group, and family therapies.
Supervises Master of Social Work (MSW) students.
May function as a resource to other staff as appropriate.
Provides education to other health care professionals.
Participates in or consults on research/education programs.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Social Work
LCSW license
BLS Certified (within 3 months of hire)
Minimum 1 year of experience with cancer patients (preferable)
English – Required
Bilingual (Spanish) – Preferred
