Social Worker, LCSW — University of Miami Health Services – Social Services Department, Medical Campus – Full time, Staff, Pay grade H11.

Summary As a licensed Clinical Social Worker, you will administer a broad variety of therapies and serve as the designated expert, consultant, or source of knowledge within the social work profession. You will provide psychosocial assessments of patients and families, formulate and implement plans, collaborate with the healthcare team, facilitate discharge planning, and offer education and counseling.

Core Functions

Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families to identify emotional, social, and environmental strengths and problems related to their diagnosis, illness, treatment, and/or life situation.

Administers a broad variety of therapies; serves as designated expert and consultant within the social work profession.

Formulates, develops, and implements a plan utilizing appropriate social work interventions.

Collaborates with the health care team and involves the patient/family in the development and implementation of plans.

Facilitates discharge planning across a multidisciplinary care continuum including consulting physicians, third‑party payers, and other providers.

Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary staff to design and implement treatment and discharge plans.

Provides education and counseling to patients and families around issues related to adaptation to illness and life situation.

May utilize crisis intervention, brief and long‑term individual, group, and family therapies.

Supervises Master of Social Work (MSW) students.

Serves as a resource to other staff as appropriate.

Provides education to other healthcare professionals.

Participates in or consults on research and education programs.

Core Qualifications

Education: Master of Social Work (MSW).

Certification and Licensing: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and BLS certification (within 3 months of hire).

Minimum 1 year of experience as a social worker.

Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (both oral and written).

Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
