Job Overview The Med Tech position is a multifaceted role that involves caring for residents, administering medication, and working closely with Caregivers to ensure residents maintain independence and safety. Med Techs work with the Wellness Coordinator and are part of the Resident Care team, providing individualized care to seniors who require assistance with activities of daily living. They maintain resident independence and dignity through compassionate, patient, and understanding care.
Responsibilities
Administer medication to residents based on medication charts and document and restock medication carts.
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including toileting, showering, meal assistance, light cleaning, and other essential daily activities.
Participate in shift‑change meetings to communicate resident status or special needs to the incoming team.
Assist with janitorial tasks as needed.
Act as shift supervisor, ensuring resident care needs are met.
Support Caregivers during shifts with transfers and other duties.
Collaborate with physicians and pharmacy to ensure medication orders are correct.
Report changes in resident medical conditions and behaviors to physicians, families, and leadership.
Communicate with residents, families, Caregivers, Wellness Coordinator, Resident Care Manager, Wellness Nurses, pharmacies, and doctors.
Provide emotional support, treating residents with respect, dignity, and a positive, cheerful demeanor.
Promote safety and well‑being using written and verbal procedures, safety equipment, and awareness of potential dangers.
Perform any additional duties assigned by the Wellness Coordinator or community leadership.

Requirements
High school diploma or GED (required).
CNA required in North Carolina.
Experience caring for the elderly or as a Med Tech (required).
Experience working with individuals with memory impairment (required).
Physical Requirements
Frequent use of manual, auditory, and visual skills, bi‑manual dexterity, and fine motor skills.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Occasional exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals.
Reach, bend, twist, squat, kneel, push, and pull.
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs; up to 80 lbs of pressure may be applied during transfers (mechanical assisted).
Perform repetitive movements such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
Constant standing and walking.
