As a Staff Software Development Engineer, you will collaborate with product, technology, and engineering teams to create exciting new products that will span various technologies. These technologies include Middleware, Web, Integration, Database, ETL, Data Analytics, Messaging, Business Intelligence Tooling. The Staff Software Development Engineer must have a growth mindset, have an appetite for continuous learning and a curiosity for new and emerging tools, technology, patterns, methodologies, and market offerings. The Staff Software Development Engineer will be detail‑oriented, possess excellent customer service & communications skills.

Responsibilities

You’ll lead efforts to incorporate open‑source tools, automation, and cloud resources to cut down on tedious, boring tasks and free up the team's engineers to do what they do best.

Automate provisioning and configuration of infrastructure components to ensure consistency and reliability.

Design, develop and implement code for various environments using tools such as Terraform, Ansible or similar technologies (ie: Python, PowerShell).

Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

Collaborate with Enterprise architects, security, and SMEs to establish and enforce DevOps standards, best practices, and procedures.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles and best practices.

Develop frontend and backend code utilizing test‑driven development.

Participate in cross‑functional teams to drive process improvements and ensure a smooth development workflow.

Required Qualifications

7+ years' experience as a multi‑faceted DevOps engineer or similar role delivering automated infrastructure solutions at an enterprise scale.

3+ years' experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS) as well as on‑prem environments (VMware).

3+ years' experience using and administering build automation, continuous integration, and source code management CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Octopus, Jenkins, etc.).

3+ years' experience in one or more programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, and strong experience with infrastructure as code (IaC), specifically Terraform and Ansible.

Solid development experience using Restful APIs.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Container development (Kubernetes, AKS, GKS).

Experience with front end development (Angular, React, Backstage).

Experience with Test Driven Development.

Knowledge of Agile methodologies (SAFe, Kanban, XP).

Experience with Document Management Product Engineering (eg: FileNet).

Experience with HealthCare Middleware Product Software Engineering (eg: ClaimsXten).

Experience with Vendor Owned Middleware Product Engineering (eg: QNXT).

Strong Windows knowledge and experience.

Strong Linux knowledge and experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (High School Diploma and 4 years relevant experience).

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is: $118,450.00 – $236,900.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
