Position Summary The Head Golf Course Superintendent plays a critical role in the golf operations. The Superintendent is responsible for agronomic management and daily maintenance of the 18‑hole course, clubhouse grounds, and common areas under management direction. The role coordinates daily with the Director of Golf and Golf Shop staff to provide golfers an exceptional experience every day. Areas of supervision include daily crew activities, budget management, planning and advancement of maintenance practices to uphold top‑tier facility presentation, and hiring and training of crew. The qualified candidate is a team‑player who advances the wellbeing of Midlane CC, OGM, and the entire team, with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and high organization.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee turf care and overall playing conditions, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and wildflower areas.

Guide and manage all operations of the Midlane CC golf course maintenance department and associated personnel.

Recruit, supervise, and retain maintenance crew; conduct performance evaluations and schedule safety meetings.

Maintain the golf course to excellent playing condition in accordance with Midlane CC and OGM standards.

Schedule maintenance practices around play and outings to maximize efficiency and minimize disruption.

Provide detailed annual plans for cultural practices and landscaping areas, including rotational designs for a fresh and pleasant atmosphere.

Manage water usage tracking and irrigation systems; report on retaining ponds, wells, and other water source usage.

Provide technical, operational, and safety training to ensure compliance with OSHA, club safety, state, and federal guidelines.

Oversee the proper operation and maintenance of mechanical and course equipment; plan and budget for future capital replacement.

Apply and record chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Develop the annual operating budget and oversee maintenance and capital improvement projects.

Direct and assist staff in planting new vegetation, spraying, pruning, trimming trees and shrubs, and preparing plant beds for aesthetically pleasing arrangements.

Educational Requirements 2‑4 year Turf Management / Horticulture degree preferred.

Special Requirements Ability to obtain an Illinois pesticide license.

Experience Requirements Minimum 3 years of related work, management, and supervision experience.

Compensation Annual base salary $80,000+ DOE.
