Specialist, Quality Engineer – Nationwide
Nationwide’s Technology team is seeking a Test Lead to support our Product Development Line for NFT Life BSA initiatives. You will play a key part in ensuring the quality and reliability of our solutions through effective test planning, execution, and automation. This role is hybrid, with two days per week in the Columbus, Ohio office on Wednesdays & Thursdays.
Job Summary As a Quality Engineer you will plan and conduct a wide range of software quality tests and analyze to ensure all application products and services meet organizational standards and end‑user requirements. You will focus on risk‑based testing, test automation, performance testing, test data management, test environment management, continuous integration and delivery, improving speed to delivery for our business partners.
Preferred Qualifications
Proven expertise in TOSCA automation tools
Familiarity with Life Insurance business domains (Whole Life, Term Life, Universal Life)
Strong leadership and communication skills
Experience working in agile development environments
Key Responsibilities
Ensure all information systems products and services meet organization standards and end‑user requirements.
Analyze moderate requirements, user stories and technical products to create the required automation.
Apply secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Plan the mix of manual, automated and exploratory testing.
Define test data management, test automation, security/vulnerability, performance and regression testing needs.
Validate test results, record and research defects.
Coordinate test runs and test environment calendars.
Trace requirements to tests and results.
Prioritize, define, and manage defect reporting and resolution.
Identify means to increase testing efficiency without compromising quality.
Plan for continuous integration to enable a continuous deployment pipeline.
Execute moderate release testing and plan for back‑out testing.
Validate installation of release components in the testing environment.
Align with Nationwide’s automated testing reference architecture.
Comply with release management process governance and timelines.
Typical Skills and Experiences
Education: Undergraduate degree in computer science, information systems or related field.
License/Certification: TOSCA Automated Specialist 1 (AS1), TOSCA Automated Specialist 2 (AS2) or equivalent.
Experience: 4+ years in test optimization and automation, Agile testing, test plan creation, maintenance, execution.
Knowledge: Strong analytical and communication skills, planning and problem‑solving, insurance/financial services knowledge a plus.
Job Conditions Overtime Eligibility: Exempt (Not Eligible). Working Conditions: Normal office environment; some travel may be required. ADA: Statements cover principal functions with accommodations as needed.

Expected starting salary range: $95,500.00–$143,500.00.
