As a Medical Assistant you will assist providers and other members of the health care team in the clinic by performing a variety of back‑office and patient‑related tasks and ensuring smooth patient flow within the department. You will also perform a range of patient‑care procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, including injections, EKGs, ear lavage, blood draws, measuring patient vital signs (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature), managing rooming and patient flow, assisting with the patient visit, and post‑visit duties. You will inform providers of schedule changes that impact patient flow, assist with front‑office activities and varied scheduling tasks, and report test results as directed by the provider. Your work will contribute to the strength of our Team Medicine approach to collaborative medicine and support the Virginia Mason Production System, which has transformed health care by providing patients with easier access to care, reducing errors, and continuously innovating patient safety and quality.

Job Requirements

Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program, with Washington State Department of Health Medical Assistant – Certified (CM).

Knowledge of third‑party payer requirements.

Strong aptitude for detail and ability to work independently.

Strong organizational, problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with a PC.

One year of Medical Assistant – Certified experience preferred.

Pay Range: $26.45 – $34.68 per hour.
