NYC Parks is the steward of over 30,000 acres of land – 14% of New York City – including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We operate more than 800 athletic fields, nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 67 public pools, 51 recreational facilities, 15 nature centers, 14 golf courses, and 14 miles of beaches. We care for 1,200 monuments and 23 historic house museums, look after 600,000 street trees and two million more in parks, and serve as New York City’s principal providers of recreational and athletic facilities and programs. We also host free concerts, world‑class sports events, and cultural festivals. Since 2009, the Mobile Movie Van has provided free outdoor movies in underserved neighborhoods in all five boroughs, equipped with a state‑of‑the‑art $40,000 audio/video system, a 14’x8’ small screen, and a 20’x11’ inflatable screen. Perks: All Parks employees receive free membership to our recreation centers.
Major Responsibilities
Travel to and from garage to various parks around the five boroughs.
Assist with the set up and breakdown of movie screen and audio equipment.
Work closely with Parks Managers and Borough Coordinator to ensure that movie showings are professionally implemented.
Assist with light maintenance and ensure that movie locations are safe and feasible.
Maintain accurate records such as daily vehicle trip ticket, van inventory and program sign‑in sheets.
Maintain mobile unit vehicle; keep van neat and organized. Keep inventory of equipment and update Citywide and Borough Coordinator on repairs needed of vehicle and replacement of supplies.
Work Location: Citywide
Duration: 6 Months, Starting April 2026
Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $40.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $101.25 background check fee.

Minimum Qualifications
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and two summer seasons, or six months, of experience as an instructor, counselor, or coach in an organized recreational program; or
A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and completion of sixty credits toward a baccalaureate degree in an accredited college; or
Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above.
Preferred Skills
Ability to lift heavy objects.
