Job Overview
Mobile Diesel Mechanic II role responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics in a mobile/field environment.
Additional support includes scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and light mechanical repairs under the supervision of a Senior Mobile Diesel Technician or higher.

Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment reconciliation.
Maintain company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre/post-trip inspections.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks.
Document work performed and upload pictures via TRAIT application on iOS device.
Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation.
Work with high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
Maintain high productivity within standard repair times.
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors.
Communicate with management to obtain approvals on repair estimates.
Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of experience in a related automotive service field (or related combination of education and experience).
Possess a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
Obtain ASE certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
Pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until expiration (or DOT physical if less than four months).
Minimum age 21 years or older.
Valid state residence driver’s license required with a Driver Qualification File maintained.
