Job Overview Join the Child Development Center (MCCDC) at Merced College to support children’s development through classroom teaching and daily operations.

Responsibilities

Assist the classroom lead teacher and oversee daily operations.

Teach assigned groups of children using developmentally appropriate practices.

Plan and provide appropriate learning activities covering all areas of children’s development.

Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly classroom environment.

Communicate with parents and assist with parent‑teacher conferences.

Administer assessments, record observations, and develop portfolios for children.

Support integration of children with special needs and collaborate with support professionals.

Prepare snacks, follow food program guidelines, and assist with meal service.

Carry out emergency and safety procedures, including first aid.

Perform housekeeping duties, special projects, and attend staff meetings.

Qualifications

24 units of Early Childhood Education/Child Development plus 16 units of General Education, incl. 2 adult supervision and 3 infant/toddler units, within first year.

Eligibility for or possession of a Teacher Permit.

Certificate of TB Clearance or negative TB skin test.

Proof of required immunizations (Influenza, Pertussis, Measles).

Ability to speak, read, and write English clearly.

Physical capability to perform child care tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Desired Qualifications

Associate’s degree (AA/AS) in Early Childhood Education or related field, plus 24 units of ECE/CD.

2 adult supervision and 3 infant/toddler units.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

Work in a classroom environment, with extended hours including evenings.

Stand or sit for prolonged periods; lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

Available to work outside regular hours as needed.
