It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.**Description of Work**Health Care Technician I/Special Events Coordinator, coordinates special activities (Special Olympics, camps, dances, including meals, etc.) for individuals with intellectual disabilities/developmental disabilities. Position is in Murdoch Developmental Center’s Parkview Cottage. Parkview Cottage serves up to 42 individuals with intellectual disability, ranging in age from 60-97 years old.
This position functions within Parkview Cottage to provide direct programming services for individuals who have severely/profoundly intellectual developmental disabilities. Major duties include coordination with Recreational Therapy Programs, Building Event Planning, Supervision and Monitoring of Programs, Scheduling/Conducting Community Trips and Maintenance of Daily Group Activities for the people that live in Parkview. This position will also provide daily living and personal care on the units as needed and deemed necessary by the Division Director.
Parkview Cottage is looking for someone that is energetic, can bring new ideas to the table, has good interpersonal skills and has great skills with conducting leisure groups with individuals that require assistance with completing tasks. This person should also possess good leadership skills and be able to be a positive role model for those around them.
