Catholic Charities is looking for a Cook to prepare daily hot meals for clients. The Cook works every weekend 6am – 1:30pm in a fast‑paced kitchen. Job Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with health regulations and protect products from receiving to service. Prepare and serve food in accordance with safe handling practices and report violations. Receive and properly store food donations with accurate documentation. Plan menus, ensuring nutrition, donated food utilization, and adherence to guidelines and budget. Orient and train kitchen workers for meal preparation, serving, and cleanup while monitoring performance. Maintain sanitary conditions, clean areas and equipment, and implement corrective measures. Maintain records and statistics associated with kitchen operations. Maintain proper inventory levels, monitor stock, reduce waste, and report shortages. Work independently focused on daily kitchen operations while ensuring efficiency, food quality, and safety standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Program Specific
Train residential clients using a coaching model for meal preparation and serving. Address areas to help residential clients overcome obstacles in kitchen assignments and operations. Education & Experience Requirements
1 year of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen and/or restaurant environment. Certification / Licensure
ServSafe® Food Handler certification, obtained within six months of employment and maintained thereafter. Required Skills & Abilities
Demonstrate accountability by consistently being punctual and maintaining reliable attendance and working independently with minimal direction. Exhibit strong interpersonal skills with a courteous and professional demeanor toward staff, clients, and visitors. Demonstrate patience and composure when working with children and interacting with parents, fostering positive relationships. Uphold and ensure compliance with proper food safety requirements and standards. Know how to use computer systems and software, including Windows PC, web browsing, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive. Physical Requirements & Work Environment
No remote or hybrid work availability. Remain in a stationary position, standing or sitting for extended periods as required. Move between work sites, walking, standing, or traveling as required. Position in ways to accomplish tasks in tight or confined spaces as needed. Adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Communicate verbally, listen, write, and use electronic communication methods with clear and effective understanding. Perform repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and fingers throughout the workday. Operate kitchen machinery and/or power equipment safely and maintain procedures. Benefits
