About the role Techno is seeking a Design
Project Manager
to play a leadership role on one of the most significant transportation programs in the region, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Newark AirTrain Project. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a next-generation transit system that will redefine connectivity at one of the nation’s busiest transportation hubs.
In this role, you will lead engineering design review efforts for complex, multidisciplinary systems. You will work closely with a highly experienced team of engineers, designers, and construction professionals to ensure designs are technically sound, buildable, and aligned with project goals. This is a high-visibility role that offers real influence and the chance to leave a lasting public impact.

What you'll do
Lead and manage the engineering design review process for a large, complex transit infrastructure program
Serve as the primary point of coordination between design teams, engineers, project leadership, and PANYNJ stakeholders
Review civil, structural, and systems design submittals to confirm compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements
Facilitate technical meetings, design workshops, and interdisciplinary review sessions
Identify design risks, constructability challenges, and potential schedule or cost impacts, and help drive solutions
Provide clear, practical technical feedback to design teams to support timely decision-making
Track design review schedules, milestones, and deliverables to keep the project moving forward
Support alignment between design intent, construction feasibility, and long-term operational needs
Assist with design-related reporting, briefings, and project documentation as needed
Qualifications
Approximately 10 years of progressive experience in engineering, construction, or design management, with a strong focus on design review
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required, preferably Civil Engineering
Candidates with a construction background are welcome if they demonstrate strong knowledge of engineering design principles
Structural engineering experience preferred
Professional Engineer license preferred
Experience working in Design Build or alternative delivery environments is a plus
Prior experience supporting projects for the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey , particularly aviation or transit programs such as the
Newark AirTrain , is highly desirable
Strong technical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to lead across multidisciplinary teams

The expected salary range for this role in the New York City Metropolitan Area is $85 - $97 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process
