Buffalo, Community Action Organization – $18 per hour
Summary Performs activities necessary to maintain emergency food supplies and provide eligible customers with emergency foodstuffs, clothing, or other household items.
Responsibilities
Review inventory records to determine foodstuffs required to stock the pantry, prepare Food Bank requisitions, and replenish stock.
Direct the preparation of emergency food allocations based on family size and dietary needs; assist in the distribution of emergency food supplies.
Distribute emergency clothing and household goods, when available, to eligible customers.
Maintain records of food distribution, inventory, and requisitions; act as agency liaison with Food Bank and other emergency food providers.
Drive agency vehicle to provide door‑to‑door delivery and pick‑ups for the food pantry.
Promptly report all vehicle maintenance issues to the Director of Emergency and Family Services.
Perform vehicle care and cleaning maintenance (car wash, vacuum, tidy up), maintain mileage log, and follow cleaning, sanitizing, and check‑in protocols.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and six months of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: read and comprehend simple instructions, write simple correspondence and inventory lists, present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
Mathematical Skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; handle problems involving a few concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: valid NYS driver’s license and ability to drive the agency cargo van.
