Responsibilities The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair. The role involves:
Performing troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers.
Troubleshooting and repairing facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, other water filtration equipment, and general plant maintenance.
Working directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventive maintenance mechanics, and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shifts.
Proposing solutions to complex and recurring problems on production equipment to senior mechanics and management for resolution.
Using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Repairing equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other facility equipment; modifying, lubricating, diagnosing, and operating equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
Maintaining industrial control systems and completing all required work order paperwork, documenting parts and material usage.
Working independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and timely.
Being able to fill in for a production operator as needed.
Understanding and following plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation; using personal protective equipment where required.
Maintaining regular and predictable attendance to ensure equipment and facility uptime.

Essential Functions
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at the facility.
Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
Maintain industrial control systems.
Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and timely.
May fill in for production operator as needed.
Complete required work order paperwork and document parts and material usage.
Understand and follow plant safety rules, including personal protective equipment requirements.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications Minimum qualifications:
4 years experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
4 years experience in this position.
4 years experience managing people/projects.
Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members.
Ability to read and interpret schemes: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
Skilled in shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools.
Proficient with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center.
Will need own toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred qualifications:
6 years experience in a field or similar manufacturing environment.
6 years experience in this position.
6 years experience managing people/projects.
Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), servo drives, and servo motors, rotary equipment, thermodynamics, heat transfer, plastics processing, Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment, HVAC including chillers and/or air compressors.
Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
Skilled in working with electrical systems including 480 VAC & 24 VDC power.
Ability to read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams.
Skilled in repair of VFDs, servo motors, controllers, communication systems (ASi‑Bus, CAN‑Bus, PROFIBUS, Ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.
