Job Overview The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair. The technician performs troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment, including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. The technician also performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration equipment, and general maintenance of the plant.
Essential Functions
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.
Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at the facility.
Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.
Maintain industrial control systems.
Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs safely and timely.
May fill in for production operator as needed.
Create and report repairs throughout shift. Complete required work order paperwork, document parts and material usage.
Understand and follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.
Personal Protective Equipment must be used where required.
Regular and predictable attendance is essential to ensure equipment and facility uptime.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
4 Years of experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.
4 Years of experience in this position.
4 Years of experience managing people or projects.
Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.
Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
Skilled with shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools.
Proficient with precision measuring equipment: calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.
Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center.
Will need own toolbox and basic tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
6 Years in a field or similar manufacturing environment.
6 Years in this position.
6 Years managing people or projects.
Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.
Experience with Variable Frequency Drives, servo drives, and servo motor.
Experience with rotary equipment such as rotary press or filler.
Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.
Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment.
Experience with HVAC including chillers and/or air compressors.
Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting.
Skill in fabrication capabilities: cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick).
Skill with electrical systems: 480 VAC & 24 VDC power.
Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation schematics.
Skill in repair of variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (ASi‑bus, CAN‑bus, PROFI‑bus, Ethernet), PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.
