Caron Scientific is seeking a full-time Shipping Coordinator at our Marietta, Ohio location. The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing domestic and international shipments in support of business operations and customer needs. This role works closely with freight forwarders, internal teams, and external customers to ensure on‑time, accurate, and compliant shipments. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Logistics Coordination
Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics partners to schedule pickups, deliveries, and time‑sensitive shipments.
Manage domestic and international shipments to ensure compliance with shipping regulations and customer requirements.
Obtain competitive quotes for freight costs and high‑volume shipping lanes to support cost savings initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance
Create and maintain shipping documents including Bills of Lading (BOL), packing lists, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and customs documentation.
Maintain accurate logistics‑related procedures, work instructions, and forms within the Quality Management System (QMS).
Ensure all shipments meet U.S. and international export compliance requirements (EAR, ITAR if applicable).
Product Preparation
Assist with the final assembly, cleaning, labeling, and crating of finished goods prior to shipment.
Work with inventory and purchasing teams to ensure timely availability of crates, pallets, packaging materials, and shipping supplies.
Help ensure products are packaged and secured to prevent damage during transit.
Customer Communication & Service
Communicate professionally and promptly with customers regarding shipment status, documentation, and delivery expectations.
Provide accurate updates to internal stakeholders on planned ship dates and shipment progress.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes and drive operational efficiencies.
Use historical data and forward‑looking trends to recommend improvements in logistics planning, packaging, and freight strategy.
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years coordinating logistics within an ERP system (e.g., SAP, Sage, Oracle).
Minimum 2 years working with freight forwarders/carriers in domestic and international shipping environments.
Experience in a fast‑paced operations or manufacturing environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with internal teams and external customers.
Ability to recognize issues, collaborate cross‑functionally, and take ownership of solutions.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail, particularly in documentation.
Ability to operate material‑handling equipment: forklifts, pallet jacks, box trucks (with valid license as required).
Ability to lift, move, and handle items of 50 lbs or more safely.
Ability to prioritize workload and manage shifting priorities.
Must be able to stand, walk, lift, bend, and move for extended periods.
May involve operating heavy equipment and working around crating material.
Knowledge of U.S. export compliance regulations (EAR, ITAR) is a plus.
Experience in a regulated manufacturing is a plus.
Prior experience maintaining logistics documents in a QMS environment is a plus.
OSHA forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification is required.
