Superior Forge & Steel Corporation is currently hiring a Pitman/Ladleman for our operation. The Pitman/Ladleman is a member of our Melt Department responsible for the setup and maintenance of melting equipment and assists in melting operations. Competitive wages starting at $22.20 with $0.50 per hour increases every 6 months until the established top rate of pay is achieved. Additional Paid Relief Days, $1,000 SIGN ON BONUS (Paid in increments throughout the first year of continued employment), and this position is eligible for Production Incentive Program.
Duties/Responsibilities
Assists in preheat, melting, tapping, de-gas, and pouring operation
Participates in melt furnace reline
Assists with ingot strips
Cleans and inspects plates, molds, pouring pits, and ladles
Sets up plates, molds, and stools
Inspects argon plugs, top plate, and gate
Performs other department duties, as assigned
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
Must be capable of lifting up to 80 lbs regularly
Exposed to heat from furnace and hot metal
Exposed to seasonal temperature changes
Manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and vibration
Eligible upon hire : Company paid safety shoes and prescription safety glasses.
Eligible after 30 days : medical/prescription drug coverage, dental, vision insurances, company provided Basic Life and AD&D insurance, additional voluntary benefits including hospital indemnity, accident and critical illness insurance, paid holidays.
Eligible at 60 days (520 working hours) : Participation in the production incentive pay program ( potential to add $1-$2 per hour to base pay, based on production )
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficient in interpretation and utilization of sketches
Strong attention to detail
Basic math skills
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
Previous foundry or construction experience preferred
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
