Finance Committee Member (Volunteer)

Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut
is seeking individuals with
financial acumen and business
knowledge to
volunteer approximately
one hour/month
for our
Finance Committee . Accountants, bookkeepers, mortgage professionals, financial planners, tax attorneys and other estate professionals may be interested in getting further involved.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining accurate and complete financial records: Ensuring all financial information is accurate and prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Preparing and presenting accurate financial statements : Providing the board with timely and meaningful financial information to aid in decision-making.
Monitoring budget adherence:
Regularly verifying the accuracy of financial information and investigating significant variances.
Developing internal controls: Creating and ensuring compliance with internal controls and policies to protect the organization's assets.
Overseeing audits: If the organization does not have a separate audit committee, the finance committee is responsible for the audit.
The finance committee's role is to provide the board with the necessary information to make informed financial decisions and to maintain the organization's financial integrity.
