Location: 301 S Crapo Street, Mount Pleasant, MI 48858
Schedule: Intermittent work is on call; no guaranteed hours; up to 20 hours per week. Minimum 1–2 shifts weekly. Shift options: 7 am‑3 pm, 8 am‑4 pm, 3 pm‑11 pm, 4 pm‑12 am, 7 pm‑3 am, 11 pm‑7 am, 12 am‑8 am. Weekend coverage required.
Compensation: Hourly Rate $16.53 – $22.54, depending on experience.
Job Summary
Monitors health, safety, and security of recipients via electronic monitoring systems; responds to needs verbally, in person, or through the system. Provides support during hours when face‑to‑face staff are absent. Operates monitoring equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Provide direct care and support per service plan.
Operate electronic monitoring systems, ensuring proper function.
Monitor auditory cues for support or intervention needs.
Pay attention to needs identified in service plans and potential emergencies.
Nurture, comfort, and facilitate communication with recipients.
Document and comply with policies and procedures.
Promote safe, secure conditions; follow emergency procedures.
Support culturally competent, person‑centered, trauma‑informed practices.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
Coursework: DCH Group Home Curriculum – basic first aid, CPR, medication administration, crisis avoidance.
Experience: Two years caregiver role in group home, home health, or similar; preferred.
Valid driver’s license required for agency vehicle use.
Knowledge of developmental disabilities, medications, and emergency procedures.
Basic computer, reading, and telephone skills.
Independent judgment, excellent verbal communication, and crisis management skills.
Strong memory, organizational skills, and respect for recipients.
Physical Demands
Includes sitting, standing, listening, driving, walking, lifting, and domestic duties.
Work Environment
Control room, agency vehicles, recipients’ homes, and community settings.
