Knowledge Road is seeking a full‑time Special Education Teacher (SETSS) to join our team who has experience engaging with children with Autism and offer vital support to students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools. With a major city‑wide shortage of qualified special education professionals, your skills are urgently needed to ensure students receive the individualized instruction they deserve. This is an opportunity to engage directly with students who require specialized academic support, helping them in reaching their educational objectives through focused intervention and evidence‑based instruction.
As a SETSS provider with Knowledge Road, you will deliver individualized and small‑group instruction in school settings, working closely with families and school teams to promote student progress and academic achievement.
Responsibilities
Offer high‑quality, individualized small‑group instruction to students with disabilities, in accordance with their Individualized Education Service Programs (IESP).
Ensure fulfillment of each student's weekly IESP requirements and maintain an intervention schedule aligned to the school timetable.
Create and submit quarterly progress reports and maintain bi‑weekly family communication with clear updates on progress and upcoming steps.
Record service delivery and student performance in Knowledge Road's system with accurate, timely documentation.
Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that address the specific academic, social, and emotional needs of each student.
Work with parents, teachers, and other school staff to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for your students. Monitor and assess student progress, providing consistent updates to families and school‑based teams.
Participate in IESP meetings as needed, offering expert insights and recommendations to promote student success.
Qualifications
NYS Student with Disabilities (B‑2, 1‑6, 7‑12, or All Grades) or NYS Literacy Specialist.
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience.
Must not have been employed by NYC DOE within the last 12 months.
Experience teaching Math and ELA.
Reliable transportation.
NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to obtain prior to start.
Experience supporting Elementary School Aged Students with Autism.
Schedule & Location This is a full‑time, school‑day role at the child's school with a schedule that corresponds with the NYC DOE calendar. You'll deliver services on‑site at one or more schools in Manhattan, with placements decided by student requirements. Weekly hours depend on IESP mandates; your caseload may differ by placement. Generally ~20‑30 hours/week depending on assignments.
Compensation $60−$100 per hour (1099). Pay rate differs by group size and placement. One‑on‑one IESP sessions generally start at $60 per hour. For this particular case we seek someone ready to provide one‑to‑one support with a student who has numerous mandated hours.
