Position Overview Winston‑Salem State University is seeking Assistant Football Coaches to help lead the Rams into their next era of excellence!

Reporting to the Head Football Coach, an Assistant Football Coach supports all aspects of the football program, shaping a culture of success, integrity, and Ram Pride, on and off the field.

WSSU’s Athletics Department has five openings for Assistant Football Coaches:

Responsibilities

Evaluate and recruit highly skilled student‑athletes

Instruct student‑athletes in the fundamental skills and strategies of football

Participate in the planning and supervision of in‑season and non‑traditional season practice and competition sessions

Ensure student‑athletes are monitored daily in study hall, classes and in other campus functions and areas.

Demonstrate techniques for improvement of the players and execute programs as directed by the Head Football Coach

Assist with continual analysis of the team and contribute to strategy, planning, game plan development, and adjustments to ensure peak performance

Monitor strength and conditioning of athletes

Requirements and Preferences Position required to work during periods of adverse weather or other emergencies

Not Mandatory

Normal Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm

Weekends and nights are required; schedule will vary based on competition schedules.

Department Required Skills Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

Two years of college‑level coaching experience or four years of high school‑level coaching experience

Thorough knowledge and familiarity with the policies and regulations of the CIAA and NCAA

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

Demonstrated student‑athlete recruitment skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; the ability to professionally and effectively communicate with students, staff, members of the University community and the public

Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite of programs

Required License or Certification
