Preschool Disabled Special Education Teacher The Gloucester City School District is seeking a dynamic Early Childhood Special Educator.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Regularly assess, monitor, and document student progress toward Preschool Disabled (PSD) IEP goals using developmentally appropriate tools, observational notes, and anecdotal records
Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise in early childhood development, goal-setting, accommodations, and individualized student plans
Develop and implement a curriculum aligned with NJ Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards and district goals, integrating developmentally appropriate practices
Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that supports exploration, play-based learning, and individualized/small-group instruction
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies tailored to early learners, including multi-sensory approaches, ABA techniques (if applicable), visual supports, and hands-on interventions
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that foster language, social-emotional, cognitive, motor, and adaptive skill development
Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning and adjust instructional methods to meet individual developmental needs, providing targeted small-group or one-on-one instruction as appropriate
Promote social skills, self-regulation, and early citizenship principles through modeling, explicit instruction, and consistent routines
Maintain accurate and complete records for student progress, attendance, assessments, and required documentation in compliance with district procedures and state regulations
Establish strong communication with families, encourage parental involvement, and provide updates that support learning and generalization across home and school settings
Implement and uphold district and classroom behavior expectations centered on positive reinforcement, visual supports, and developmentally appropriate behavioral strategies
Qualifications
Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility, with Pā3 and Special Education endorsements
Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and/or other specialized instructional programming preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of effective special education instructional methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
Ability to establish and maintain a positive, supportive learning environment
Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
Successful criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status required
