Job Summary Under the direction of the Heavy Equipment Supervisor, serve as lube technician of department’s inventoried diverse fleet of over 150 pieces of equipment and various farming equipment for ag services departments. Record daily activity information for recharge purposes and preventative maintenance for department owned fleet.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid Class B Driver’s License and Medical Certificate.
Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience working in an automotive or heavy equipment repair facility, performing repairs and routine maintenance as well as Knowledge of regulations, inspections, safety procedures, and repairs for commercial trucks, heavy equipment, and farm vehicles.
Experience working in a customer service environment as well as the ability to interact professionally with the public.
Experience working independently to identify issues, initiate repairs, and perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties.
Experience with and/or the ability to use, or learn in a short time, computers, and e-mail.
Strong communication skills to interpret policies and convey information clearly to both staff and customers.
Knowledge of regulations, inspections, safety procedures, and repairs for commercial trucks, heavy equipment, and farm vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or ability to use welding and cutting equipment.
Organizational skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous projects, distribute effort appropriately among the projects, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.
Flexibility to adapt to new and changing procedures while maintaining productivity and accomplishing workload as priorities change.
Ability to use welding and cutting equipment.
Interpersonal skills to work with ethnically diverse students, faculty, staff and visiting public.

Department Overview UC Davis Fleet Services manages a fleet of vehicles for the UC Davis Campus in Northern California that are assigned and travel throughout the nation. There are approximately 870 fleet-owned vehicles with an acquisition value of over $20 million and another 600 department-owned vehicles, carts, and trailers maintained by Fleet Services. These vehicles are available to support teaching, research, administrative programs and all campus support programs.

Required to wear protective clothing and respirator in circumstances that require personal protection.
