Job Summary #CA-PS Under general direction of the Supervisor, provide technical skills and labor to operate, maintain, install and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) controls/systems. Provide journey-level programming knowledge to interface with the existing HVAC Control systems. (Siemens, Johnson, ALC).

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
Must possess a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school or have the equivalent amount of experience and training comparable to a journey level craftsperson in HVAC BMS control systems.
Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
No Minimum Education required
Journey level technical experience and knowledge of HVAC systems and their controls. (i.e. DDC, electromechanical, electronic, and pneumatic).
Experience with the installation of wiring and programming of VFDs; as well as experience with and knowledge of 1 phase/3 phase 120/208/480 and class 2 low voltage systems.
Experience with basic operational modes of steam heating, hot water heating, chilled water bldg/process cooling systems, direct expansion air conditioners and chillers.
Skills to use testing equipment including but not limited to: voltmeters; ampmeters; ohmmeters; airflow meters; temperature and humidity recorders; EMS service tools.
Knowledge and skills in air balance, the ability to check and adjust air volumes to maintain proper air changes and pressurization; as well as knowledge of lock out/tag out procedures; and skills to review and understand technical data, specifications, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and craft terminology.
Computer skills to retrieve workflow information, job assignments and material data entry; experience with MS Office; as well as ability to use computer hardware and software and firmware to operate, control, schedule and monitor building systems and utilities as directed.
Preferred Qualifications

This position supports critical campus functions operating 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. To assure adequate support of these functions the employee may be required to participate in a rapid response program to facilitate timely return of staff to the campus as required to meet critical needs. The rapid response program may include requirements for the employee to inform the University how they can be reached during non‑working hours, to carry University provided radios, cell phones, pagers or other telecommunications equipment which would facilitate communication between the campus and employee during non‑work hours, or to accept rotating on‑call responsibility which could periodically restrict the off‑campus movements of the employee. The base salary for this position will be considered to include compensation for participation in the rapid response program and separate compensation for these requirements will not be provided unless the employee's movements are restricted during non‑working hours. If the employee's non‑working hour movements are restricted by the University additional compensation will be provided based on the program in place in the local work unit. Employee is personally responsible for following safety guidelines/procedures.
