Responsibilities

Support the mission and goals of the Small Business Development Center and SWCC as well as those of the SBA and State SBDC network.

Work directly with small businesses within the SWCC footprint, including Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, and part of Dickenson counties; assist Program Manager with business plans, marketing strategies, loan applications, sources of finance, business structures, licenses, and other startup and existing business issues.

Procure office supplies/services as needed; prepare travel arrangements.

Assist with preparation of business‑related workshops for private individuals, businesses, and the industrial community.

Network with individuals, civic organizations, and government entities to identify sources of information and/or services related to small business.

Operation of a state vehicle (if assigned).

No supervision of employees.

Travel may be required on occasion.

Qualifications

Office management and clerical experience; ability to work independently and with a team.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other programs such as VCCS System and Canva.

Ability to multitask.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Maintain confidentiality.

Work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.

Additional Considerations

Experience with Google Docs, eVA, Calendly.

Professional writing skills.

Experience with office organization.

Experience creating professional newsletters.
