PT Administrative Assistant – Small Business Development Center Virginia’s Community College System (VCCS) – Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC), Tazewell, VA.

Position: PT Administrative Assistant SBDC, Admin and Office Spec I, role code 19011-SW, FLSA Nonexempt, Pay Band 01, Position Number 294W0012, Agency: Southwest Virginia Community College Division, Work Location: Tazewell – 185. Working hours: up to 29 hours per week; some evenings and weekends may be required.

Telework: No.

Responsibilities

Support the mission and goals of the Small Business Development Center and SWCC, as well as those of SBA and State SBDC network.

Work directly with small businesses within SWCC footprint (Buchanan, Russell, Tazewell, part of Dickenson County) to assist the Program Manager with business plans, marketing strategies, loan applications, sources of finance, business structures, licenses, and other business matters.

Procure office supplies and services as needed; prepare travel arrangements.

Assist with preparation of business‑related workshops for private individuals, businesses, and the industrial community.

Network with individuals, civic organizations, and government entities to identify sources of information and services related to small business.

Other duties as assigned, and support agency/state government during emergency declarations.

Qualifications & KSA's

Office management and clerical experience; ability to work independently and with a team.

Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other programs (VCCS System, Canva).

Ability to multitask.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Maintain confidentiality.

Work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.

Additional Considerations

Experience with Google Docs, eVA, Calendly.

Professional writing skills.

Experience with office organization.

Experience creating professional newsletters.

Travel & Vehicle Some travel may be required; operation of a state vehicle – no supervision; no required travel specified.
