Are you looking for experience managing dorm life and study sessions? Hope CollegeTRIOUpward Bound is hiring for summer educational coaches for our 6 week (plus training) Summer Session 2026! Summer Session 2026 runs from June 10, 2026 through July 17, 2026. Training takes place June 8-9, 2026. WhatTRIOUpward Bound does:
We work with some of the most incredible, driven students from Fennville HS, Holland HS, and West Ottawa HS and assist them in achieving their goal of attending college. We are a Department of Education-funded program intended to serve students who are first-generation, face economic obstacles, and/or need academic assistance. Summer Academic Component
During the summer, we provide intensive coursework to prepare students for their upcoming school year, as well as classes that give students the opportunity to explore careers and passions. The six-week summer program serves 80 high school students, grades 9-12, and includes academic classes, social, cultural, and recreational activities. Students receive instruction in English, math, science, and foreign language, research post-secondary options and visit college campuses, and develop their leadership skills. Coaches will:
Coach students in academic areas of strength. Oversee a study hour session daily. Plan, implement and supervise program activities. Occasionally transport students to local colleges and business for tours. Implement and support program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Assist with morning check-in and afternoon dismissal. Program juniors and seniors have the opportunity to live on Hope’s campus for the last two weeks of the summer session. This residential program allows students to experience life on campus and helps to ease their eventual transition to college. Coaches will:
Serve as “Resident Assistants” during the 2 week residential component. Decorate and prepare the dorm for student life (posters, bulletin boards, etc.). Live with students in a college residence hall and provide 24-hour supervision. Organize group social activities. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students. Qualifications
Current college student with a 3.0 or higherGPAin area of expertise. Prior experience tutoring in high school subjects preferred. Science and/or Math major/background preferred Experience working with disadvantaged youth or personal experiences in overcoming barriers like those confronting UB program participants. Prior experience organizing and implementing activities preferred. Must have a valid drivers license. Physical Demands
This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves lifting over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities with students. In the case of temporary or permanent condition(s) that require(s) accommodation(s), reasonable accommodation(s) may be requested. Pre-employment Screenings
