Position Title Tool Builder-1

Location Auburn Hills

Shifts Needed Day

Days Monday- Friday 6a-4:45p + Saturday 6a-12p

Character of Position Under the supervision of the department supervisor, entry level tool builders are responsible for various manual tasks such as cleaning, maintenance, assisting, and unloading materials. While working and learning directly from the more seasoned employees, they use hand and some air tools and assist crews with other necessary tasks.

Responsibilities

Assist the manufacturing leaders and seasoned employees with project specific work as deemed necessary.

Raise general maintenance issues to the supervisor as problems arise.

Assist, as required, in the movement of materials or equipment within facility.

Responsible for all activities related to shop cleaning and maintenance, including any required outside grounds keeping.

Ensure that all of the assigned activities are completed as scheduled.

Must be able to achieve quality and production goals.

Deburring, paint prep, stenciling and ID of materials.

Drill and tap holes.

Clean up work areas from hazardous or obsolete material.

Assist builders on site.

Handle, gather, and transport materials and equipment.

Willing to learn how to operate a hi-low and overhead crane.

Use power tools and machinery as needed.

Follow and maintain all safety protocols and housekeeping requirements.

Follow OSHA safety guidelines, and ITAR compliance.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills

Effective oral and written communications

Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Self-motivated but able to take direction

Understand and work to all QMS procedures and work instructions

Ability to read complex blueprints

Identify and find specifications within blueprint given

Geometric tolerances (understand and recognize some symbols)

Understanding of general tolerances

Comprehend simple sections and views

Understand reference system

Understanding of Enovia

Requirements

Strong desire to work and learn in the manufacturing field.

Quality and safety mindset.

Comfortable using tools and machinery.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take direction and work as a team.

Limited or no prior tool builder experience necessary.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Standing for long periods of time, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting.

Good hand-eye coordination.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Citizenship Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required- No sponsorship offered.
