Job Description Environmental Services Specialist – NGHTS (T232125)

Description The primary accountabilities below describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not an exhaustive statement of duties.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university.

Respond to urgent cleaning needs as a result of spills or accidents.

Adhere to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.

Use professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques.

Interact with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.

Assist other team members with daily work and special projects.

Use assigned communication device to read and respond to texts, emails and service requests.

Regularly inspect and refill supply of paper, soap and other products throughout shift.

Maintain carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment of stains; maintain hard flooring and stair treads through daily sweeping, wet and/or dry mopping.

Inspect and actively maintain cleanliness of high‑traffic areas such as restrooms, breakrooms and lobby areas; maintain cleanliness of door handles, water fountains, light switches, elevator buttons and similar high‑contact surfaces.

Dust, clean and disinfect a variety of surfaces to include furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.

Use resources in a safe, cost‑effective manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Ability to read, write and comprehend written and oral instruction.

Ability to use personal computer, cell phone, tablet or other device with limited training.

Ability to utilize email programs and applications necessary to perform job duties with limited training.

Ability to perform work independently.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Organizational skills.

Prioritization skills.

Experience Previous housekeeping experience preferred.

Compensation & Work Schedule

Starting hourly rate: $15.00/hour.

Work schedule: Flexible schedule, including Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.; shifts subject to change.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.

Licenses / Certifications Some positions require that driving record meet University underwriting guidelines to drive a vehicle in performance of University business. Current guidelines include possession of a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

This position will not require driving.

Personal

Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.

Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.

Working in confined spaces.

Working within extreme temperature ranges.
