Job Description Performs a variety of routine and major professional cleaning duties in public and private spaces of the university.
Responds to urgent cleaning needs from spills or accidents.
Adheres to established schedule to maintain cleanliness standards.
Uses professional cleaning products, equipment and techniques.
Interacts with customers, visitors, students, coworkers and others in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
Assists other team members with daily work and special projects.
Uses assigned communication device.
Essential Job Functions
Perform routine and major cleaning duties in public and private spaces.
Complete tasks independently using professional techniques and participate in ongoing training.
Empty, clean and replace liners in waste containers daily; coordinate removal of recycling and large waste items.
Inspect and refill supplies of paper, soap and other products throughout the shift.
Maintain carpeted areas through daily vacuuming and spot treatment; maintain hard flooring and stair treads through sweeping, wet or dry mopping.
Inspect and maintain cleanliness of high-traffic areas such as restrooms, break rooms and lobbies; keep door handles, faucets, switches, elevator buttons clean.
Dust, clean and disinfect furniture, walls, doors, glass, windows, counters, lab and bathroom fixtures.
Use and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies safely and cost‑effectively.
Use assigned communication device to respond to texts, emails and service requests; interact courteously with customers and colleagues.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Read, write and comprehend written and oral instructions.
Use personal computer, cell phone, tablet or other device with limited training.
Use email programs and applications necessary for job duties.
Work independently and as part of a team.
Interpersonal skills.
Organizational skills.
Prioritization skills.
Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required. Previous housekeeping experience preferred.
Licenses / Certifications Some positions require a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (minimum 21 years, 3 years driving, acceptable MVR). Vehicle use may be required.
Personal
Lift and carry a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
Climb stairs.
Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and walking significant distances.
Work in confined spaces.
Work within extreme temperature ranges.
Pay and Schedule Starting Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour.
Work Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including Monday to Friday, 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; shifts may change to meet university needs.
