The City of Hazelwood is now summer camp staff! Under the supervision of the Program Specialist-Programs, the Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for the daily supervision of campers and the implementation of all scheduled camp activities.
Duties Include:
Supervise and maintain the safety of campers ages 6-11 daily
Aid in planning blocks of daily activities
Lead scheduled camp activities to include crafts, games, swimming, field trips, etc., under the direction of the Lead Camp Counselor(s)
Communicate and collaborate with camper caregivers to provide high quality service and address any issues in a timely manner
Maintain and organize all camp supplies and camp spaces for daily use
Administer First Aid as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Age 16 or older at the time of hire
Experience working with elementary to middle school-aged children
Previous summer camp experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Hold, or have the ability to obtain, First Aid/CPR certification (provided upon hire)
Ability to work in a variety of settings including outdoors in summer weather conditions
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must be available Monday - Friday, June 15 - August 7, 2026 for regular camp season and required pre-camp training to be scheduled
Salary Range $15.00 per hour
